Making It in Eastern Europe is a multimedia, solutions-oriented storytelling project highlighting women-led innovation, resilience, and creativity across the region produced by Lazy Women. Combining the concept of a regular column featuring long-form articles and profile-style interviews and features with an interactive, geolocalised map, it spotlights stories of women who are not only attempting to solve existing problems but also creating transformative projects that shape their communities and redefine what progress looks like.

Making It in Eastern Europe features two article categories:

- Fix It: stories of women who found solutions to existing societal challenges

- Make It: new, women-founded innovative projects from the region, and in-depth profiles of inspiring women who are change-makers and active contributors to their communities

The project combines journalism, technology, and community engagement to create a living and ever-evolving archive and network of Eastern European solutions, produced locally, told multilingually, and designed to inspire global audiences.

Lazy Women pitched this project at the Media Blend Hackathon 2025 in Bratislava, where it received initial funding to kick-start development. However, this support covers only the first six months. With your support, we can continue building and innovating features from the region. See how you can support us here.
